AsiaOne Face of the Week - September 2007

Mr Graeme Siow, 29, an executive producer in a local production house, is one of those lucky ones many of us want to be like.

"Work doesn't really seem like work to me," he says. "The environment is really informal, I think I only wear trousers and a shirt when there's a presentation."

It wasn't always like this. "Before, I would be an angry man before going to work," reveals the journalism-trained Graeme, who used to work for a news network.

About five years back, he made a switch. "It was the creative aspect that brought me into production.

"News is something you cannot control, whereas in production you control things from the start, and you see what you envision coming to life on the screen."

Right now, he is working on a short feature film telling the Singapore story. "Exciting for me," Graeme says, "since I co-wrote the script."

He struggles a little when asked what his long-term goal is.

"That's an interesting question," says Graeme. "I don't know. I'm pretty happy with what I'm doing."

Why you should vote for me: "Because chivalry isn't dead in my book."

Ms Lam Yi Ling, 20, an auditor, says she is bidding farewell to the carefree days of school.

She graduated from a polytechnic accountancy course about half a year ago, and is currently two months into her auditor job at one of the big four accountancy firms. Juggling the demands of work and the rigours of a part-time ACCA course is "rather challenging", she says.

Still, "I'll try to complete the course as soon as possible, in about three years, as only with the qualification can I get promoted".

"People say it's difficult to pass, so maybe I'll have to spend less time with friends.

But even with the tighter constraints on her time these days, Yi Ling has still taken up a new hobby - working out at the gym.

"I'm scared of getting fat!" she declares. "Office work is just lots of sitting down."

You can often catch her zipping around on a bicycle as well. "I like to see the scenery and feel the wind blowing on my face," she says of this simple pleasure.

Why you should vote for me: "I'm young, approachable and friendly."

Game to be AsiaOne’s Face of the Month?

AsiaOne is on the lookout for two photogenic people to feature as our "Face of the Month.”

We will post two pictures each week – one male and one female.

AsiaOne roving photographers will either snap these pictures or you could send in entries as well.

At the end of each month, AsiaOne readers will be invited to vote for who they think should be the “Face of the Month.”

By year’s end, there will be 24 faces (12 males and 12 females). From these, readers will vote for the most popular face from each category, and the two will be named AsiaOne’s “Face of the Year.”

The winning couple stand to take home attractive mystery prizes, which will be announced later.

Here's how you can take part:
