Mr Davin Goh, 24, a manager at the Mos burger outlet in Tiong Bahru Plaza, has been working in various food and beverage outlets since he was 16.
"I've liked to eat since I was young, and like to analyse which places have good food.
"And if I know which is the best place for a dish, I'll recommend it to my colleagues and my boss," he says.
Davin started as a part-time crew at Mos burger three years ago and worked his way up. "In the past, I had a bad attitude and looked down on myself," says Davin.
He recalled what a manager told him when he first joined. "He said, 'Why are you so stupid? I don't think you'll climb up (the corporate ladder)'. I wanted to prove him wrong," says Davin, who nows manages 15 staff.
He says working at Mos has taught him to be patient and to be professional in his work. Now, Davin is looking to other challenges, and intends to switch jobs and do events coordination work early next year.
"I want to change my working environment and try new things. After all, you're young only once in your life."

Ms Celia Lim, 23, a public relations executive, is a different person when not at work.
"My job requires me to approach people. This is what I have to do, so I'll do it," says Celia. But in her personal life, she is a quiet person who waits for people to say "hi" to her, she explains.
In her free time, Celia seeks quiet as well. You will likely find her taking a walk at a park, letting her mind wander. "I don't like noisy places or places where there are a lot of people, so I seldom go to Orchard Road during the weekends," she says.
This slim, 1.7m-tall gal says she was persuaded to join the AsiaOne Face of the Month contest by her friends and family.
"Maybe they see the change in me, appearance-wise. I used to be 80kg at 1.65m in Primary Six," she revealed. Being in an all-girls Secondary school, "surrounded by a lot of pretty girls" convinced Celia she needed to make some changes.
These days, she tips the scale at 52kg. "So they say, 'might as well take part in a contest and see where I stand'.
Why you should vote for me: "I'm a happy-go-lucky and very positive person." |
