Wanting a breather from life as a freelance arts practitioner, Mr Lawrence Wong decided to take to the skies about two years back.
"I'm glad I did it. I know it sounds cliched, but I really learned a lot," says Lawrence, 25, of his stint as a flight attendant. It was a rare opportunity, he says, to go to many different countries, among which were those that are seldom on the radar of most tourists, like Karachi and Pakistan.
"They're very different from Singapore, in terms of the standard of living, the environment. It's quite shocking to see the poverty of some countries in real life.
"You may see it on TV or read about it, but it's very different when you see it in real life," says Lawrence.
He recently left his job as a flight attendant, and while he's back to modelling and acting, the former star of TV series @Moulmein High is trying something new at the same time – starting a business.
"I always had a dream of being my own boss, so thought I should work on it,"says Lawrence, who is keeping what he is working on a secret for now.
"I want everything to be perfect before I start it."

Ms Goh Jia Lin, 28, an engineer in the marine and offshore engineering field, fulfilled a childhood dream a few years back.
"Beautiful," she said of her two and a half years as a flight attendant. "It was the love of travelling, waking up in new places and new cities," she says.
While it was great fun working in the air, being away from home for up to three quarters of a month took its toll. Jia Lin said she was brought to ground by a desire to spend more time with family and friends.
"I was always away on weekends. Friends were trying to meet up and I always had to fly off," she explains. Her current work allows for a more structured lifestyle, so "it's better in the long run".
For leisure, Jia Lin likes to chill at a cafe and catch a flick. "I like classics – those set in Victorian times. I love the gowns and costumes.
"And I'm a romantic, so I enjoy the romantic comedies."
Don't ask her out for a horror movie though. "I don't believe in causing myself pain and scaring myself," she declares.
Why you should vote for me: "Cos it'll put a smile on my face and you just might get to see another pic of me."
