AsiaOne Face of the Week - December 2007

Mr Lim Chin Han, 34, has been a flight attendant for about ten years.

And when you have been flying that long, it is natural to meet some unusual passengers. For example, he was on a flight last year with more than 20 hulking wrestlers from the World Wrestling Entertainment, or WWE as it is more commonly known.

"They are totally different from what we see on TV. They were very friendly, very funny," says Chin Han.

"You'll get to meet different types of people. Some can be very nice, some can be very unreasonable.

Of the latter, he says they do not realise that "we're human", and they can ask for "out-of-the-world" things like a drink at a certain temperature, and no hotter or colder", says Chin Han.

"We just try to put ourselves in their shoes and be patient, and prepare it through trial and error until we get the right temperature."

In his free time, Chin Han likes to club and hit the gym. It is not surprising then, when he says he dreams of running a business in the fitness or clubbing industries.

Either that, or just "some place for friends to chill out, so I can keep in touch with friends from the workplace, school, clubs and my childhood".

Why you should vote for me: "Because I'm super-friendly, easy going and a fun person to hang out with."

Ms Pearlin Siow's job stretches her - but in a good way, of course.

After three years as a journalist and two and a half in the IT industry, the 31-year-old said she found herself burnt out and decided to take a break from work.

And during this break, the pilates fan decided to take an instructor course for it. Teaching pilates has been her career since five years back.

"While I was in the IT industry, I was always in front of the computer. I developed back pain that would appear around each day evening time," says Pearlin. "It became a big problem for me."

Before a friend suggested pilates, she said she never exercised at all. And "I hated doing anything at the gym. Usually when I get to the the gym, I get lost."

But something about pilates lay down well with her. "It's a lot of stretching and the exercises can be quite complicated, so you can't think of anything besides the exercises.

"So after an hour of 'not thinking', you feel really refreshed," explains Pearlin, who also does freelance writing for women's magazines.

And life now is much more relaxed, she adds – as in "waking up after 12pm, as most of my classes are in the evening"-type of relaxed.

Why you should vote for me: "Because I have connections to the mafia and I know where you live!"

Game to be AsiaOne’s Face of the Month?

AsiaOne is on the lookout for two photogenic people to feature as our "Face of the Month.”

We will post two pictures each week – one male and one female.

AsiaOne roving photographers will either snap these pictures or you could send in entries as well.

At the end of each month, AsiaOne readers will be invited to vote for who they think should be the “Face of the Month.”

By year’s end, there will be 24 faces (12 males and 12 females). From these, readers will vote for the most popular face from each category, and the two will be named AsiaOne’s “Face of the Year.”

The winning couple stand to take home attractive mystery prizes, which will be announced later.
