Goldhill residents were surprised by patrol teams of the police force's elite thronging their estate late yesterday afternoon.

The forces were on a manhunt for Mas Selamat Kastari, who escaped from a Whitley Road detention centre at about 4pm.

Kastari was known to be the leader of the Singapore JI network, that has been linked to terrorist group Al Qaeda.
