The Malaysian one-sen coin will effectively become worthless come April 1, 2008, when the rounding of prices to the nearest five sen for all over-the-counter-payments comes into force.

The Malaysian Government says this would benefit consumers, business and the Government. The rounding mechanism will round up to the nearest 5 sen for over-the-counter payments. The exercise will be implemented effective 1st April 2008.
