It’s a ratings war on the airwaves, and it’s hotting up!
According to the findings of A C Nielsen’s Radio Survey "Wave 1, 2007", SPH UnionWorks' Radio 91.3, is enjoying an explosive growth in audience numbers, as the fastest growing commercial English language station in Singapore.
And with that validation comes even greater offerings – hence "The Wedding of the Year" between Radio 91.3 and 'The Married Men', to bring you the new 'Rod Monteiro and The Married Men' show, launching on Monday, July 16th, 2007.
The three-hour show goes on air at 5pm, and promises wacky entertainment during the drive-home evening belt. Guaranteed to send motorists and commuters laughing all the way home, or to dinner, the show will be local and topical in content.
Mr Jamie Meldrum, Programme Director of Radio 91.3 and an Australian radio veteran, says: “After the fantastic ratings results we received in our first Wave Survey since refocusing the station over Christmas, we can't wait to bring Rod and his team onboard and really start to put the pressure on the opposition."
The programme is a tie-up between Radio 91.3 and The Married Men Pte Ltd, a new company set up in June by popular radio deejay Rod Monteiro, Clarence Edwin (who runs a recording studio), and Andre Marc Hoeden (who worked in event management). The partnership marks the first time in Singapore’s radio history that a radio station’s programme is produced by an external party.
Expect lots of banter and jokes from Rod and Andre, while Audrey Lim (the beauty among the beasts) reads the news, sports and traffic. Scriptwriter Caroline Mao, also from The Married Men, is the fifth member of the crew.
"I'm confident Rod's show will deliver just the kind of fast paced fun that's been missing from Singapore Radio, and together with our upcoming Promotions - which include the chance for listeners to win a trip for 2 to see Justin Timberlake and Good Charlotte LIVE in Los Angeles, the launch of the 91.3 Mercedes Vito Thundertruck, and the return of Petrina Kow to 'The Morning Show' - and the fact that we now never play more than two commercials in a row, we feel as though we're definitely heading into this next ratings period with our best foot forward," adds Jamie, who is also Singapore's best-known voice actor.
With the addition of 'The Married Men' team, Radio 91.3 now boasts a line-up of deejay luminaries that includes Joe Augustin, Hubert Tang, Jeremy Ratnam, Suzanne Walker, Petrina Kow and Denise Tan - all for your listening pleasure.
