Ooh La La! "Very Pampered" at Zouk

Last Saturday, the crew at AsiaOne - on the invitation of Subaru + MotorImage - dropped by Zouk for "Very Pampered", the latest instalment of the iconic nightspot's series of over-the-top theme parties.

Earlier themes have included "Very Rock", "Very Dirty" and "Very Brit". But if there's one common thread running through these Zouk events, it was "Very Crowded".

With sponsors Spa Esprit providing the "pampering", clubbers more accustomed to rude shoves or dirty looks were treated to massages and manicures for a change.

The highlight for the evening though, was a performance by Nouvelle Vague, brainchild of French producers Marc Collins and Olivier Libaux, who were here as part of the Voilah! French Festival Singapore 2007.

This acclaimed French collective specialises in "French cross-over pop, cocktail jazz, with trip-hop overtones to a bossa nova template".

But If you think the French are snooty folk who only eat croissants, sip wine, and poo-poo the English language, the lasses from Nouvelle Vague quickly dispelled any of those perceptions with their over-the-top covers of 1980s New Wave and punk anthems, which their fans here just couldn't get enough of.
