Indonesia's 112-year-old busker
Sep 05, 2008
A traditional form of Indonesian music is being preserved by a 112-year-old busker, who still makes her living from the Javanese Xylophone.
Hadisono Rukinem walks around the streets of Bantul in Yogyakarta, playing an ancient Javanese xylophone called the gender (pronounce G like "great"). She plays in the hope of preserving a fast-disappearing tradition in an old city where mobile phones chime to the latest pop tunes.
