China's state television CCTV shows dramatic images of an apartment block in Shanghai after it collapsed on Saturday morning. Xinhua news agency reported one man was killed in the accident.

Witnesses said the building started to fall shortly after 5.30 in the morning. Some said it was like an earthquake.The building, still under construction, was not occupied.

This latest incident highlights fears that safety standards are being overlooked in the country's rush for development.
