The New York Times is reporting that Hillary Clinton has accepted US President-elect Obama's offer to be US Secretary of State.

Analysts say Mrs Clinton's nomination would sail through the confirmation process in the Democratically-led Senate. Her appointment would mean putting her political career on hold, while she works to rebuild the damaged image of the US around the world.
