China's economic growth rate slipped into single digits in the third quarter for the first time in at least four years.

The fall in annual GDP growth, from 10.1 per cent in the second quarter, confirms that China cannot decouple from worldwide trends and reinforces expectations that the government will soon ease monetary and fiscal policy.
