Muslims world wide celebrate Eid to mark the end of Ramadan - the Islamic holy month of fasting.

According to Islamic tradition, fasting is intended to teach the person patience, humility, and closeness to God. Fasting ends on Eid with prayers followed by gift giving, food and festivities.
