The host country of the 2008 summer games is snapping up Olympic gold medals like never before.

China currently leads other nations - with a tally of 17 medals so far, compared to 10 for arch-rival the United States.

The hard work, sacrifice and money poured into athletic training is paying off. But, athletes are under tremendous pressure to win for the nation.
