Suspected Muslim separatists and suicide bombers have launched a dozen attacks in west China killing 11 people, says Xinhua news agency.

The renewed violence comes two days into the Olympic Games in Beijing. The Chinese official Xinhua news agency said police shot dead eight assailants, while another two blew themselves up and a security guard died in the attacks.
