State media reports that China's Sanlu Group asked for local government help to cover up the scandal over milk power tainted with melamine came a day after a Presidential visit to several agricultural sites in the east.

The news follows revelations that local authorities in Sanlu's home city sat on a company report about the contamination for a month while Beijing hosted the Olympics.
